How to rotate a PDF and save it

If a PDF opens sideways or upside down every time, the fix has to be saved into the file. Open Rotate PDF, choose the file, pick an angle and the pages to turn, then select Rotate PDF → and download the corrected copy. It is free, needs no account, and runs in your browser.

Why the rotation did not stick

Some PDF viewers have a rotate button that only changes how the page looks on your screen in that app. If the page is sideways again when you reopen the file, or when someone else opens it, that is what happened. Rotate PDF changes the rotation setting stored in each page, so the corrected copy opens the right way up in any viewer.

Step by step: rotate a PDF and save it

The tool works the same in a browser on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android. It takes one PDF at a time.

  1. Open Rotate PDF.
  2. Select Choose a PDF, or drag the file onto the drop area. The file name and size appear below.
  3. Under Rotate clockwise, choose 90°, 180° or 270°.
  4. Under Pages, leave all to turn every page, or type the pages to turn, such as 2, 4-6.
  5. Select Rotate PDF →. When it finishes, you will see “Your file is ready.” and the size and page count, such as “2.5 KB. 6 output pages.”
  6. Select Download result ↓. The file is named pdfreadygo-rotate.pdf.
  7. Open the download and check every page before you send it.

To try a different angle, select Start over, choose the original file again and repeat the steps. Always start from the original, not from the rotated copy, unless you want the turns to add up.

Which angle do you need?

All three options turn the page clockwise, like the hands of a clock. Look at where the top of the page points now:

If only some pages are wrong and they need different angles, run the tool once per angle, using the output of the first run as the input of the second. Or use Organize PDF, described below, which lets you turn each page while looking at it.

Choosing pages

The Pages box accepts single pages and ranges separated by commas, for example 1, 3-5 or 2, 4-6. Use the page numbers of the file itself, starting at 1, as the hint under the box says. Printed page numbers in a report often differ from file page numbers because of a cover or contents pages, so check the page counter in your PDF viewer.

Pages you do not list are kept as they are, in the same order. The output always has the same number of pages as the original.

What we found when we tested it

We ran the tool on the live site on October 31, 2026, in Chrome, using a six-page sample PDF made for the test, each page with a heading and an arrow pointing to the top.

We also tested a copy where page 3 was already stored sideways, the way some scanners save pages. Rotation adds to the existing setting: 270° on page 3 brought it back upright, while 90° turned it upside down. Choose the angle based on how the page looks now, not on how it was scanned.

Rotate single pages with previews

Rotate PDF does not show page previews. If you need to see the pages, use Organize PDF:

  1. Choose the PDF and wait for a message such as “6 pages ready. Move, rotate or remove pages below.”
  2. Select ↻ under a page to turn it 90° clockwise. Select it again for 180° or 270°.
  3. Select Save organized PDF →, then Download result ↓. The file is named pdfreadygo-organize.pdf.

In our test, turning a sideways page three times with ↻ brought it upright. Organize PDF shows previews for documents of up to 100 pages and can also move or remove pages.

What if it does not work?

Quick answers

Does rotating reduce quality? No. The tool changes the page rotation setting only. It does not turn pages into pictures or recompress them.

Is the file uploaded? No. The PDF is read and saved in your browser and is not sent to our servers. See how privacy works and the FAQ.

Can I rotate several PDFs at once? Not in one step. Combine them first with Merge PDF, then rotate the pages you need.
