How to remove pages from a PDF

To take pages out of a PDF, open Organize PDF, choose the file, select × under each page you do not want, then select Save organized PDF → and download the new copy. If you already know the page numbers, Split PDF does the same job by typing the pages to keep. Both are free, need no account and work in your browser.

Which tool to use

Neither tool changes your original file. You get a new copy, and the original stays where it was.

Step by step: remove pages with previews

The steps are the same in a browser on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android. The tool takes one PDF at a time, up to 30 MB.

  1. Open Organize PDF.
  2. Select Choose a PDF, or drag the file onto the drop area.
  3. Wait for a message such as “8 pages ready. Move, rotate or remove pages below.” Each preview is labelled with its position and its page number in the original, for example “1 · Original page 1”.
  4. Select × under a page you want to remove. The message changes to “Page arrangement updated.” and the remaining pages are renumbered, while the “Original page” label stays the same.
  5. Repeat for each page you want to remove. If you remove the wrong one, select Reset pages to bring back every page in the original order, then start again.
  6. Select Save organized PDF →. When it finishes, you will see “Your file is ready.” with the size and page count, such as “3.1 KB. 6 output pages.”
  7. Select Download result ↓. The file is named pdfreadygo-organize.pdf.

At least one page must remain, so the × button is greyed out when only one page is left.

Step by step: remove pages by number

  1. Open Split PDF and select Choose a PDF.
  2. Leave Output set to One PDF with selected pages.
  3. In Pages, type the pages you want to keep. To drop page 3 from an 8-page file, type 1-2, 4-8.
  4. Select Split PDF →, then Download result ↓. The file is named pdfreadygo-split.pdf.

Pages come out in the order you type them, so 4-8, 1-2 would also move pages 1 and 2 to the end. Use the page numbers of the file itself, starting at 1, as the hint under the box says. Printed page numbers often differ because of a cover or contents pages, so check the page counter in your PDF viewer.

What we found when we tested it

We ran both tools on the live site on November 1, 2026, in Chrome, using an eight-page sample PDF (6.0 KB) made for the test, plus a few extra files for the edge cases.

Form fields and bookmarks are now kept when you only remove or rotate pages. Fields and bookmarks that belonged to a removed page are dropped, and the rest still work. We checked this with a five-page test form that has bookmarks: the kept fields could still be filled in, and each bookmark opened the right page. If you also move pages into a new order, or list pages out of order in Split PDF, the tool makes a fresh copy instead. That copy does not keep fields or bookmarks, and the tool tells you when this happens. To be safe with a form, you can still fill it in first with Fill & Sign PDF and lock the answers with Flatten PDF.

Removing a page is not redaction

Removing a page takes the whole page out of the new copy. It does not black out a name, number or paragraph on the pages you keep, and, as the Organize PDF page says, it is not a redaction tool. If one line on a page must not be shared, removing pages will not help unless you can drop the whole page.

What if it does not work?

Quick answers

Is my PDF uploaded? No. Both tools read and save the file in your browser, and it is not sent to our servers. See how privacy works and the FAQ.

Can I keep the removed pages as a separate file? Yes. Run Split PDF again on the original and type only those pages. Merge or split? explains when each tool fits.

Can I fix a sideways page at the same time? Yes. In Organize PDF, select ↻ under the page before saving. How to rotate a PDF and save it has more detail.
