How to make a PDF from photos on your phone
To make a PDF from photos on a phone, open Scan to PDF in Safari or Chrome, tap Take a photo or Choose photos, check the pages and tap Create PDF →. It works on iPhone and Android without an app or an account, and the photos are processed on the phone instead of being uploaded.
Scan to PDF or Images to PDF
PDFReadyGo has two tools for this. Pick by what the photos show:
- Photos of paper documents, like a form, a receipt or a certificate on a table: use Scan to PDF. It finds the edges of the page, straightens it and cleans up the background. It also reads iPhone HEIC photos.
- Pictures that should stay as they are, like a screenshot or a scanned image: use Images to PDF. It places each JPG, PNG or WebP picture on a page without cropping. It doesn’t accept HEIC.
Step by step with Scan to PDF
- Open Scan to PDF.
- Tap Take a photo to use the camera, or Choose photos to pick pictures you already took. Some browsers also offer Use live camera, which lets you tap Capture page for each page and then Done.
- Look at each page. Find page edges automatically is ticked, so the tool crops to the paper. Tap ✎ to drag the corners if a crop is off, and use the arrows to change the order.
- Pick an Enhance look. Black and white · sharp text, smallest file suits printed text. Enhanced color suits forms with stamps or colored ink.
- If a website has an upload limit, pick a Target size.
- Tap Create PDF →, then Download result ↓.
To put several pages in one PDF, keep adding photos with Take a photo or Choose photos before you create it. Each photo becomes one page. One scan can have up to 50 pages. To make the text searchable, tick Make text searchable (OCR) and choose the Language of the text. The language data downloads the first time, about 4 to 6 MB, and is saved for later.
Where the PDF is saved
- iPhone: Safari puts downloads in the Downloads folder in the Files app, in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, depending on your Safari download setting.
- Android: Chrome saves to your default download location, which you can open from the Files app or Chrome’s Downloads list.
Privacy
The photos are read, cropped and turned into a PDF in your browser, and aren’t sent to our servers. Open Prove it’s private under the tool to see the requests the page makes, or try it in airplane mode after the page has loaded once.
Tips for a clear photo
- Put the page on a dark, plain surface so the edges stand out.
- Use daylight or a bright room and keep your shadow off the page.
- Hold the phone flat above the page, with the whole sheet in the frame.
- Tap the page on the screen to focus before taking the photo.
If it doesn’t look right
- The crop cut off part of the page. Tap ✎ and drag the corners to the paper’s edges.
- The PDF is too large to upload. Choose a Target size such as 200 KB or 1 MB and create it again, or use Black and white.
- The photo isn’t a document. Untick Find page edges automatically and choose Original photo, or use Images to PDF.
- An iPhone photo takes a moment to appear. HEIC photos need a decoder, about 3 MB, that downloads the first time.
