How to resize a signature to 10–20 KB for SSC forms
To make a 10–20 KB signature for an SSC application, take a clear photo of your signature, open Resize photo in KB, choose the photo and pick the preset Signature · 10 to 20 KB · 6.0 × 2.0 cm. Select Resize photo → and download the JPG. The photo is resized on your phone or computer and isn’t uploaded to us.
What the SSC notice asks for
The SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026 notice (checked November 2, 2026) says candidates must upload the scanned signature in JPEG format, 10 to 20 KB, with an image dimension of about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high. It adds that applications with a blurred or miniature signature will be rejected, except for candidates who opted for Aadhaar based authentication.
The same notice gives a second size in its annexure on how to apply: about 4.0 cm by 2.0 cm. Both are “about” sizes and the file limit is the same, so either should be within the stated range. If you want to match the annexure, the custom steps below give 4.0 × 2.0 cm. Each SSC exam has its own notice, and rules can change, so read the notice for your exam before you upload.
For the CGL 2026 exam, the photo is not uploaded as a file. The notice says it is captured live with a webcam or mobile device during the application.
Step 1: photograph your signature
- Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen. A thicker pen gives clearer lines after resizing.
- Sign at a normal size. A tiny signature looks “miniature” once resized.
- Photograph it in daylight, with the phone held flat above the paper and no shadow across it. Leave a little white space around the signature.
Step 2: resize it
- Open Resize photo in KB.
- Select Choose a photo. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos up to 30 MB work.
- Set Preset to Signature · 10 to 20 KB · 6.0 × 2.0 cm. This sets Maximum size in KB to 20, Minimum size in KB to 10, 472 × 157 pixels and 200 DPI.
- Select Resize photo →.
- Check the preview and the line under it, then select Download result ↓.
In our test on November 2, 2026, a signature scanned at 2400 × 900 pixels became a 472 × 157 pixel JPG of 12.7 KB in Chrome on Android and 15.7 KB in Safari on iPhone. The tool reported that at 200 DPI it prints at about 6.0 × 2.0 cm.
For 4.0 × 2.0 cm instead
- Pick the Signature preset as above.
- Change Width in pixels to 315 and leave Height in pixels at 157 and Print resolution (DPI) at 200.
- Select Resize photo →.
Our test gave a 315 × 157 pixel JPG of 12.4 KB in Chrome and 10.3 KB in Safari, which prints at about 4.0 × 2.0 cm.
If the result isn’t right
- The signature looks small inside a white box. The photo had too much paper around it. Crop the photo closer to the signature in your phone’s photo app, then resize again.
- The file is under 10 KB. A very simple signature can compress very well. The tool raises the JPEG quality to reach the minimum and tells you if it still can’t. Signing again with a thicker pen usually fixes it.
- The lines are faint. Use better light and a darker pen. Resizing can’t add detail that the photo doesn’t have.
- The portal still refuses it. Check the format the form asks for. This preset makes JPG, which the CGL 2026 notice asks for.
PDFReadyGo is not connected to SSC, and using this preset doesn’t guarantee that an application will be accepted.
