How to send documents to the CAF or ANTS within their size limits
The CAF accepts up to 10 MB of documents in one sending, and ANTS accepts files of up to 11 MB for a driving licence request. If your scan is too big, open Compress PDF, choose Target size — for upload limits and set a size below the limit. The file is processed in your browser, so your ID, payslip or proof of address isn’t uploaded to us first.
What the CAF asks for
The CAF page Envoyer un document à la Caf depuis Mon Compte, checked on November 5, 2026, says:
- Accepted formats: JPEG, JPG, PDF, PNG and GIF.
- All the documents in one sending can weigh 10 MB at most.
- Each sending covers one type of document. Send a payslip and a lease separately.
Because the 10 MB is for the whole sending, three 4 MB scans of the same type won’t fit together. Shrink them first or send them in two goes.
What ANTS asks for a driving licence
In an official reply on the government’s Services Publics + site, checked on November 5, 2026, ANTS says that for a driving licence request each document can be JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF or PDF of up to 11 MB, that up to 7 extra documents can be added, and that an identity document can’t be more than 2 pages. We couldn’t confirm limits for passports, ID cards or vehicle registration on an official page, so follow what the ANTS form shows for those.
Step 1: Scan with your phone
Open Scan to PDF, select Take a photo for each page, or Choose photos for pictures you already have. The tool crops and straightens each page. Select Create PDF →. A 3-page lease becomes one PDF.
Step 2: Put both sides of an ID in one file
Photograph the front and back of the card. Open Images to PDF, choose both photos and select Create PDF →. You get a 2-page PDF, which stays within the ANTS 2-page rule for an identity document. In our test, two ID card photos made a 198.7 KB PDF.
Step 3: Shrink a file that is too big
Open Compress PDF and choose the PDF. Set Compression mode to Target size — for upload limits, select Custom and type the size in KB. For the CAF, divide the 10 MB between the files you send together: for three files, type 3000 for each. For ANTS, 10000 leaves room under 11 MB. Then select Compress PDF →.
In our test on November 5, 2026, a 6-page scan of 15.28 MB came out at 2.98 MB, with pages saved as images at about 150 DPI. The tool counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so a result shown under the target also fits if the site counts the other way.
Target size mode saves pages as images, so text can’t be selected afterwards. That doesn’t matter for a scan. For a PDF downloaded from your employer or bank, try Optimize — keep page content first.
Before you send
- Open the final file and zoom in. Names, dates and amounts must be readable.
- For the CAF, add up the sizes of the files in one sending. The total must stay at 10 MB or less.
- If a PDF is password-protected, remove the password with Unlock PDF, using the password you know.
- iPhone HEIC photos aren’t on either list. Convert them with Images to PDF or Scan to PDF.
Quick answers
Can I send a photo instead of a PDF? For the CAF, yes: JPEG, JPG, PNG and GIF are on its list. ANTS lists JPG, PNG, BMP and TIFF for a driving licence request. For a document with several pages, one PDF keeps the pages together and in order.
What does one type of document per sending mean in practice? Put every page of one payslip, or of one lease, in a single PDF and send it. Then start a new sending for the next type of document.
Will the compressed file still be readable? At about 150 DPI, the printed text in our test file stayed readable. Zoom in on names, dates and amounts before you send. If anything is blurry, use a larger target that still fits the limit.
Does PDFReadyGo send the file to the CAF for me? No. It only makes the file smaller on your device. You still upload it yourself from your CAF account or on the ANTS site.
Your documents stay on your device
These tools read the file in your browser and save the result as a download, so nothing goes to PDFReadyGo. The Prove it’s private panel under each tool lets you check: in our compression test, Requests that sent a file or binary data stayed at 0. PDFReadyGo has no link with the CAF or ANTS. If their pages or your account show other rules, follow those.
